So, I feel like a fish out of water when things like this happen...I was trying to charge my laptop in the wall outlet. However, the outlet accepts a different kind of prongs, circular ones. However, I knew that my MacBook could handle the 220 voltage. I just needed to find an adapter, right? Well, only thing I could find in the store was a converter. So, I thought, "Hey, my laptop can handle either voltage--220 or 110, so it won't matter if I use a converter to bring down the voltage to 110." I then plugged my laptop cord into the converter, and the converter into the wall. A few minutes later, all of the lights in my apartment went out...I had blown the circuit. And, as you can see above, the converter got so hot that it melted to the plastic outlet cover.
Thankfully, a couple days later I was able to find an adapter, and my laptop charges just fine. As for that outlet, the cover still looks like that. :-)
